| Set away from the cottages is our small secluded lake which is a wonderful habitat for all sorts of wildlife. Permanant residents include Palmate and Great Crested Newts, frogs and toads, the larva of both Hawker and Darted Dragonflies and Damsel Flies. |

| The area around the lake has been planted with Budlea trees and during July and August, we have large numbers of butterflies. During the spring migrations, we see many Warblers and amongst the resident bird population are Buzzards, Sparrow hawks, Kestrels, Merlins and Ravens. Peregrine Falcons regularly pass over Lougher Moor. |

Summer visitors have, over the last six years, included Hobbies, Little Egrets, Hoopoes, and Kingfishers.
For those who wish to look, there is a very good chance of seeing Water Shrew, Moor Hens, Coots, Grass Snakes and Slow Worms. |
